Rev. Derrick Gilbert

At the the age of 21 Derrick walked through the doors of Teen Challenge.  At first, he was skeptical of what Teen Challenge or Christ could do to help him, but it was the staff’s investment in time and relationship building with him that ultimately broke through.  He gave his life to Christ, experienced the life-transformation that Christ brings, and graduated the program in 2005.

Derrick and his wife Amanda were married in 2007.  He later joined our staff in 2009.  Derrick also earned his Associate Substance Abuse Counselor Level 1 certification in 2014, and his Level 2 Certification in 2015.  He then went on to obtained his Missouri Recovery Support Specialist – Peer Certification that same year.  In 2016, Derrick became a Certified Reciprocal Alcohol and Drug Counselor with the state of Missouri.

Derrick is currently serving as our Discipleship Coordinator, providing spiritual counsel and mentorship to our student body.  Within this role, he is able to teach, mentor, and disciple our students towards greater spiritual and emotional growth as they progress through their program.  His passion is to allow God to use his past struggles and victories to reach young men experiencing similar situations, by investing in personal discipleship.
