Our teen rehab is based in the Christian faith and integrated holistic therapeutic practices.
At Ozarks Teen Challenge, we use faith-based therapies for teen rehab to deal with not only the body, but the mind and the soul of a teen who is afflicted by addiction. Holistic therapy is exactly this; the treatment of a person’s whole self, rather than one specific area or ailment.
Comparing Our Process To Alternative Therapies
Holistic therapy is often misinterpreted as a form of alternative therapy, which suggests the same healing power as a pharmaceutical, with no real evidence to backup the claim. Our form of therapy for teen rehab is very different, especially because of the long documented history of success through Teen Challenge.
Some alternative therapies include reiki, acupuncture, or massage. Instead of utilizing these unproven methods of recovery, we use faith, teamwork and physical activity to help teens overcome stressors and obstacles by healing the mind, body and spirit.
Introducing The Five Phase Teen Rehab Program
At Ozarks Teen Challenge, we recognize that teen rehab isn’t just a one-step process. This is why we offer an in house rehabilitation process involving youth programs, group mentoring, and a Christian boy’s boarding school. Through our school, we provide a five phase program which helps teens to find personal value, build relationships, learn to lead as a servant of God, change the culture which has been instilled through addiction and poor choices, and transition home safely.
This program certainly falls within the category of holistic therapy, as it includes social, mental, spiritual and physical therapies. From running team marathons to building relationships with other boys in the program, teens are able to heal as a whole, rather than a single piece.
Other Therapies Through Ozarks Teen Challenge
Ozarks Teen Challenge provides an assortment of therapeutic efforts to help teens rediscover themselves and release the addictions of their past. This includes wilderness therapy, missions and service trips, family support and involvement, and discipleship classes and mentoring.
A typical day at our teen rehab facility includes worship, meals, chores, group classes, recreation, discipleship, phone calls home, and free time to spend on an activity of his choice. Each day is a new chance for personal growth and development, and an opportunity to serve God while working toward personal recovery.
