Phase 5 of our teen rehab program gives your son the tools he needs to successfully make the transition back home.

The final phase of our 5-phase teen rehab program is an exciting time. It’s a time of joy, thankfulness, graduation, and rejoining family back at home. Graduating from our Christian boarding school is a true testament to the power of Christ, as seen in the dramatic life changes many of our students experience. As our students work toward completing the final phase of our teen rehab program, we work hard to equip both them and their families with the tools to ensure lasting change. If your son is working through the last phase of our program, here is what you can expect to see.

Setting Future Goals

Setting future goals is an important step in every teen’s life. As your son makes the transition home from our teen rehab program, it is important for him to discuss his goals when it comes to education, career, and his life in general. Setting these goals will help him gain clarity and vision for whatever it is he wants to pursue in life. Writing them down will also fuel continued motivation, drive, and keep him accountable, not only to you and your family, but also to himself.

Discussing Expectations and Rules

Before your son graduates from Ozarks Teen Challenge, we will also discuss certain expectations and rules that will guide his continued recovery at home. It’s important to remember that life will not return to the way it was when your son comes home. As a graduate of our boy’s boarding school, he will have undergone a serious transformation of the mind and heart, but relapse is still possible. Holding your son accountable to certain principles, expectations, and rules at home is one way to strengthen your son’s resolve and encourage ongoing personal growth and recovery. There is no doubt that this will require teamwork on the part of your family, but with continued commitment, you can all help your son maintain his recovery and flourish outside of our teen rehab program.

Implementing Safeguards

Relapse is a reality of addiction and recovery can be fragile. The final phase of our teen rehab program will help your son develop skills to successfully address triggers and stressors that have the potential to lead him back to his old habits. It is imperative that your son diligently safeguard his recovery by developing strategies to address situations, places, and people that he identifies as triggers. It’s only a matter of time before he encounters a trigger and we want to make sure he is mentally and spiritually prepared to respond to that situation appropriately. This will also require vigilant dedication, teamwork, and accountability between you, your family, and your son.

When you first enrolled your son in our teen rehab program, he was a troubled teen enslaved by his addiction and behavioral issues. But the grace of Jesus Christ has given him the freedom to live a life full of purpose, obedience, and integrity. As Galatians 5:1 says, “It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery.” The last phase of our teen rehab program is committed to your son’s ongoing recovery and provides the necessary safeguards and provisions to ensure lasting change. Our prayer is that your son’s life will continue to be saturated in the grace he was so freely given and that he will share his testimony to touch the lives of others and lead them to Christ.
