Keeping in Contact with Your Son During Drug Treatment

Staying in Touch as Your Son Completes Drug Treatment

“How often will I see my son?” “Will we get to talk to him?” “Do I get weekly updates from him?”

If you are considering enrolling your son in a drug treatment program with Ozarks Teen Challenge and you’ve found yourself asking these questions, you are not alone! Many parents of students at our boys boarding school also wonder the same things, hoping that they’ll be able to stay in contact with their son throughout the duration of his rehab program.

At Ozarks Teen Challenge, our staff is very sensitive to the wants and needs of the entire family as a unit, and we understand that communication with your son is a top priority. To encourage family support and to help facilitate forgiveness and healing, we have built regular communication into our structured program for teen boys and their families.

Progress Reports

Throughout the course of your son’s drug treatment here at Ozarks Teen Challenge, you will receive detailed monthly reports about your son’s progress. These will include information about his spiritual, behavioral, and academic progress. You will also be assigned an OTC contact — one of our devoted staff members who will be here to answer any questions you have and provide additional details on your son’s progress as he progresses through our drug treatment program.

Weekly Phone Calls and Letters

Naturally, most parents also want to hear from their son’s personally, so we are happy to provide you with weekly phone calls from your son. We also encourage you and your family to write letters to your son while he’s here at Ozarks Teen Challenge and we will make sure any letters he writes home are promptly delivered to you as well.

Visitation Passes

As your son progresses through our drug treatment program, he will be awarded visitation passes in response to positive personal growth and responsible decision-making. Our visitation passes can be used on Family Weekends and sometimes for several days of overnight stays back at home.

Family Weekend

Once every two months, we will host a family weekend where the families of OTC students are welcomed on campus to worship, pray and meet with their sons. This is a great time to share growth, learn more about our teen rehab program and heal as a unit.
